here is my story
I was desperate. I had lived under a cloak of shame my entire life. My weight had always gone up and down. Food was my comfort, my coping mechanism, my one and only true friend?. For a moment it made me feel good but soon that feeling was gone. I'd eat more to try to capture the feelings again. It was a terrible and cruel cycle. Once I was able to take weight off on my own, but it came right back! I lost 148 lbs, after weighing nearly 300lbs! I counted every calorie and fat gram, exercised vigorously, even wearing out a manual treadmill! Then my child went through a soul searching period, trading everything that was precious and dear for something that was terribly destructive. I felt helpless with no coping skills, so I fell back into old habits. Soon I found myself 65lbs overweight, only this time I was in my early 50's. I couldn't get the weight off no matter how hard I tried! Then a friend began a healthy eating program? with a health coach. She reached her goal weight in 4 months and looked fantastic! I enrolled in the program right away. I started eating 6x a day, including stuff like chocolate bars, brownies, and cookies, along with one lean & green? meal a day. While I was doing all this eating, I was coached every day by my personal health coach and reading & learning about the Habits of Health. I learned about the way my body processes food and responds to stress, lack of sleep, and dehydration. I learned how to handle life in a healthier way, in order to step me up for life-long success. After 4 months I hit my goal weight and the deep sense of shame I was living under lifted. It awoke me to the fact that I had stopped dreaming about what a happy life could look like. I realized that if this was possible, anything was truly possible! This was such a radical, eye-opening experience, I decided to become a health coach to help others really begin to live and enjoy life, the way it was meant to be enjoyed! All things are truly possible!
